Mendocino Purps
Mendocino Purps: The Grandma of Cali Strains
Mendocino Purps is a true Cali classic. It first made headlines in 2007, after being crowned one of High Times Top Ten Strains of the Year, though its origins may date further back. Mendocino Purps' exact lineage is a complete mystery, as are its genetics, though most breeders agree that it's a fairly balanced hybrid with a slight indica dominance.
One of the reasons there is so little information about this strain is that Mendocino Purps was strictly available as a clone-only variety. However, some breeders now claim to have been able to stabilise Mendo Purps and offer it in seed form. Its bulky, heavy, and resinous flowers are extremely eye-catching, and its potent physical effects make Mendocino Purps popular among indica lovers.
Aromas, Flavours, and Effects of Mendocino Purps: A Bold Indica That's Best Enjoyed at Night
Mendocino Purps has that classic, purple Cali weed smell. Its aroma combines bold cherry and berry tones with more subtle, yet complex hints of skunk and pine. Break her buds apart and grind them, and the aroma will take on a much more herbal profile. Its flavour is also more herbal, but mainly dominated by strong notes of berries. Once you light your joint up, Mendocino Purps will hit you immediately with a very strong physical stone that'll take over your entire body. This variety is very relaxing and best enjoyed in the late afternoon or evening. It's an excellent choice when you can kick back, relax and indulge in watching your favourite movie and munching on some snacks.
Growing Mendocino Purps: Versatile and High-Yielding
Mendocino Purps is a very strong hybrid that can be grown in a variety of setups. Indoors, it can stay relatively short and stocky, with broad leaves and tightly spaced internodes. The flowering time in a room or tent usually lasts 8–9 weeks. Outdoors, however, Mendocino Purps tends to grow much taller and it can stretch a little, especially when planted in big pots early in the season or directly in the ground. Remember that this strain needs cooler temperatures in order to develop its iconic purple hues.
