Frisian Duck is a great strain for outdoor cultivation in somewhat colder climates. This crossing of Frisian Dew and Ducksfoot is a unique strain in the world of cannabis genetics. This plant develops leaves which match ducks' footprints! Which obviously makes it much more difficult to identify this plants as cannabis for an outsider. Well, check out this grow report of 2 Frisian Duck plants grown outdoors in The Netherlands!
The setup is as simple as it can be. A garden somewhere in The Netherlands and the sun. The climate in The Netherlands is not perfect for growing cannabis outdoors, but when choosing the right genetics and a bit of luck when it comes to the amount of sun it's possible to get some nice yields.
During the vegetative period I did not give my plants any extra nutrients. During the flowering period I added a little bit of Guano Extract.
I started with the germination of the seeds. The bottom of the pot I filled with some batmix. For the upper layer I used about 8 centimeters of special soil for seedlings and cuttings. After 2 days the small seedlings already showed up above ground.
The plants are doing great. This week I transferred them from their pots into open ground. One of the plants on the left side of the garden, the other one on the right side of the garden (where it received a little less sun).
The chicken wire is for protection against my 2 ducks walking around. They love some fresh leaves, so a little lollipopping is happening here.
Thanks to the special duck foot shaped leaves the plants hardly attract any attention.
This week I spotted the first white hairs on both plants which means the flowering phase has started.
Both plants are about 170cm. But the one on the right (with less sun) is quite a bit bushier then the one on the left.
I have also removed a few small branches, so the plants can concentrate on the bigger branches producing bigger buds.
Both plants are doing well.
Both plants are still doing well. But this week I had to bend some branches from the plant on the right side of the garden, so it's able to catch more sun.
Here you can see the main cola and some buds from the middle of the plant. Quite a different color.
We're getting there... All hairs are still white though. We're a week or 2 before harvest.
Unfortunately I did find a little bit of bud rot. Of course I removed this immediately. Let's hope for the best.
The plants are almost finished flowering.
They're not fully ready for harvest, but unfortunately more and more bud rot starts to show up. For this reason I already cut down some branches, so they can start the drying process.
HARVEST TIME!
Total yield of 2 plants Frisian Duck together is 330 grams. Each plant gave more or less the same yield.
In the end I was really happy with this grow. Growing outdoors in The Netherlands is far from perfect, but these 2 plants did very well and produced a nice yield.
I also liked the fact that they didn't attract any attention due their 'weird' leaves. Although it became more and more clear over time they were cannabis plants because of the production of buds. Not very smelly though. No neighbors complained.
Also the taste and effect of Frisian Duck has surprised me. It smells nice and gives me a very relaxed feeling when vaporized (I only use a vaporizer).
