Of course, you can always simply smoke a joint to get high, but as cannabis can be infused into practically every drink and food item, why not get creative instead? Cannabis cocktails are a fantastic way to get a buzz, and go over great at parties and social gatherings.
But don’t cocktails contain alcohol? Not necessarily. Ever heard of virgin cocktails?
Some cannabis consumers enjoy a cocktail that mixes weed and alcohol, but many choose to stay away from it. For one, cannabis and alcohol don’t mix very well together for every individual, especially when consumed in large quantities.
Cannabis cocktails tick all of the boxes. They provide a potent high due to the metabolic pathway taken by THC when ingested in this way. They also eliminate the chance of dry mouth occurring because of the liquid content. And cannabis cocktails are a great way to unleash creativity, especially for those who love to let loose in the kitchen. There is such a variety of different herbs, spices, and fruits that can be combined to form a delicious vessel for cannabinoids.
All of the recipes below are superb, but don’t let that stop your from adding your own artistic flare and modifications into the mix.
LAVENDER LEMON HAZE
It’s not just the cannabinoids that make cannabis such an epic ingredient to put into cocktails. The terpenes also add an explosion of flavor. The strain Lemon Haze features a terpene profile (Limonene) that contributes a tasty, bitter essence to the mix.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 tbsp Cannabis-infused glycerin
- 1½ cup fresh squeezed organic lemon juice
- 1¼ cup dried lavender flowers
- Simple syrup (made from combining 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water)
- 7 cups water
- Orange flower water to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
To begin, take your lavender flowers, water, and sugar, and combine them all into a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, remove from the heat, and then let sit for half an hour. Strain the lavender flowers out of the mixture.
Combine the mixture, cannabis glycerin, remaining water, ice, and lemon juice into a large pitcher. Add further lemon juice for bitterness or more sugar for sweetness if the taste isn’t spot on.
Pour the cocktail into glasses and pop a lemon wedge on the side to finish it off. If you really want to impress your guests and go all out, garnish the glasses with fresh cannabis leaves.
Lemon Haze is a sativa strain, so the effects are very cerebral and energizing. This drink is perfect for more lively gatherings and will certainly lend to interesting conversations and dancing stamina.
BLACK MF
Black MF is a fizzy, canna-cola iced chai, featuring dark flavors and an herbal richness. Decarbed kief is used to infuse this recipe with its psychoactive effects. An indica-dominant strain suits this beverage well, complementing the sensual flavors and dark color.
INGREDIENTS
- ½ gram decarbed kief
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 6 tbsp black pepper chai loose tea
- Kola syrup
- 170ml soda water
- 85ml coconut milk
- Ice
- Chilled 20 oz glass
- Sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
To start, you will need to create a base. This is done by mixing 6 heaped tablespoons of the chai tea with one cup of hot water. Let the base infuse for a period of one hour.
When this time is up, strain the tea using a fine mesh sieve. Be sure to press the leaves against the mesh in order to squeeze out the more potent aspects of the water extraction. This is what will contribute most of the impressive flavors and colors.
Next, add the coconut milk to the chilled glass along with the kief and cinnamon, and whisk until well-combined.
Mix the soda water and kola syrup together until a head forms. Combine all ingredients and stir gently. Serve with ice.
Black MF with an indica kief is an excellent companion for a chilled night in with friend. Perfect for a game of poker or some interesting conversation and catch-ups.
