Cannabis is easy to find in Palau and pretty much tolerated by locals. Despite the tolerance towards cannabis usage, it remains illegal to possess, grow or traffic cannabis. When caught with even a small amount of cannabis you risk paying a serious fine.

There have been attempts to legalize the usage of medical marijuana in Palau. In 2015 local lawmakers introduced a Medical Marijuana Act and even though the Palau Congress of Health conducted a public hearing, it unfortunately never made it to the senate.
